At the Opening

This was my first attempt to paint on a copper panel and I am a big fan of the smooth, luminous surface. As for the subject, I tend to paint the things that I most deeply respond to: my children. I never tire of painting them! This piece was inspired by an image taken at the opening of a large, local art exhibit. Our toddler was looking around in absolute wonder at the art and the people in attendance and when my name was announced as the winner of Best in Show, we went up to accept the award together.
