Falling Light

In an effort to get back into painting after a four month hiatus due to a disruptive move, I began painting mini 6x6 still-life studies in my new studio. This one took me three days, and the complexities of the little leaves against the shadow patterns forced me to slow down in order to to really observe what was before me. Painting puts me in a meditative state where I can focus on one little section at a time; while simultaneously considering how each little piece fits into the whole.
